Whitley Penn CEO Larry Autrey told Inside Public Accounting that the firms decided their cultures weren’t a fit and it was better not to proceed.

This week, H-E-B announced the top 10 contestants who will present their products for final judging on Aug. 24 at Dallas’ Fair Park. Three are from the Houston area.

The combined firm will be called Elliott Penn LLP and will have approximately $400 million in revenue when the merger of equals closes.

The fast-casual chicken restaurant brand will also enter the Austin, Houston and San Antonio markets as part of the deal.
