In lieu of the city’s annual Mother’s Day cake decorating contest, Missouri City will host a drive-thru Mother’s Day event May 9 from 10 a.m.-noon.

Co-owner Cori Xiong said she does not know when the Sugar Land location might open.

The total number of cases countywide is now 1,357, with 1,101 active cases, 220 recoveries and 36 deaths.

In a split vote May 4, Missouri City City Council decided that each council member will submit the names of their top five preferences for city manager during a special meeting May 8.

The city of Sugar Land will collect $4.2 million in sales tax revenue in May, a 9% drop compared to what the city collected in May 2019.

Missouri City ZIP code 77459 has seen 35 new cases since May 1 and is reporting a total of 200 confirmed cases, more than any other single ZIP code in Fort Bend County.

While district administrators have not made any final decisions yet about school next year, Dupre said the district is planning for three possible scenarios.
