In the meantime, United Airlines still hasn’t reached a new contract deal with its pilots’ union.

JetBlue passengers can contribute “to a fund dedicated to covering the cost premium of SAF as compared to conventional jet fuel.”

United Airlines and Air Canada said they will operate more than 260 daily transborder departures this summer, about a 20% increase in schedule capacity compared with last summer.

United has made other sustainable aviation fuel investments in the past, including into Houston-based companies.

The combined company will have more than 680 provider locations in 26 markets.

Emirates passengers who fly into Chicago, San Francisco and Houston can use United to fly to 200 U.S. cities in the United network.

The investment is just the latest by United Airline Ventures to focus on companies making zero-emission aircraft.

It’s the third acquisition by MRI Software this year.

Avelo Airlines began service in April 2021 with $19 flights between Burbank and Santa Rosa in California. It has since expanded, primarily along the coasts.

Despite being previously rebuffed in its effort to buy Spirit Airlines, JetBlue has launched a hostile takeover bid for the Florida airline.
