Sugar Land residents are weighing in on a $350 million bond to fund public safety, mobility, drainage, municipal projects and the animal shelter in the Nov. 5 election.

Fort Bend County data shows 297,649 ballots have been cast as of Nov. 1 for the Nov. 5 general election, which accounts for over 53% of the county’s 555,569 registered voters.

In a Nov. 1 news release, the U.S. Department of Justice announced it would send election monitors to 86 jurisdictions, including Harris County, across 27 states to ensure eligible citizens have access to vote.

Baxter’s Bar, a new Houston-area concept, will make its debut in Katy and aim to “bring out the devil in all of us,” Brand Manager Katelyn Trulove said.

At an Oct. 22 meeting, Fort Bend County commissioners approved a $2.5 million broadband expansion contract with Comcast Cable Communications LLC to bring internet infrastructure to rural areas of the county.

RareTea, a tea franchise, will open its third Texas location in Katy this fall.
