Buena Vista Cuban Cafe is expanding its footprint with a new eatery opening this December in downtown Houston.

Pok Pok Po, a fried chicken concept from the hospitality group behind The Woodlands modern Indian restaurant Amrina, will debut in Houston’s Midtown this December, according to a Nov. 25 news release. 

Co-owner Jimi Cendana brought his California-founded restaurant, Mafia Sushi, to Katy in July 2022.

Barbara Garney founded Lady Clay Shooters as a nonprofit group in February 2012 as a way to build relationships with other women who shoot. 

Co-founder Luke Cosby, who is a native Houstonian, said it “means everything” to him to bring the brand back to where he started building it from. 

The European-inspired cafe overlooks landmark park Discovery Green and serves a curated food and beverage menu that includes coffee, tea and chef-driven grab-and-go items.

Of the 15 Texas restaurants that earned one Michelin Star at the first-ever Texas Michelin Guide Ceremony there were three within the Bellaire, Montrose and West U neighborhoods of Houston. 

First Watch, a Florida-based eatery that serves a variety of breakfast, brunch and lunch plates, will open in the Missouri City community this winter.

With seating for 300 and additional services as its congregation continues to grow, the new Katy campus marks a significant milestone for Higher Dimension Church. The church has sought a permanent home in Katy for more than 15 years.
