Atlanta vs Houston

Hey im a fellow Houstonian and I’ve temporarily relocated to atlanta for the past 6 months now. This is my thoughts on the two cities, if anybody ever thought about relocating to Atlanta or Houston.

  1. Food- Houston was listed as the most diverse city in the united states couple years back. All types of dishes and cuisine to try out. Atlanta food scene has really disappointed me. Literally chicken wing spots everywhere .

  2. Weather- it seems as it rains in atlanta at least once everyday if not every other day. Yes it rains in houston to but not like atlanta. The only bad thing is that it seems to flood every time it rains in houston. Since being in atlanta during December it gets really cold here. I think it drop down to 25 degrees yesterday.

  3. Nightlife- the nightlife in atlanta feels as it is just filled with just hookah lounges and clubs. Buckhead Atlanta is the only area where your going to find bars and clubs in a close proximity to bar hop other then that Atlanta nightlife is very spread out. If one place isnt jumping or not your vibe you have to drive miles away for another spot; Pricey if your using uber all night.

Houston- montrose, midtown area for example may have 200 plus bars and clubs in a 5 miles radius plenty of places to choose from. Houston also has the greater heights, rice village and a couple other bar hopping neighborhoods. Dont believe me google bar hopping neighborhoods for atlanta and houston.

I say this to be more prospective. Houston you dont need money to have a good night out. Most places are free to get in and will have tons of people inside. Atlanta you will need money most of the establishment charge up front and most likely those spots are the ones where you’ll have the most fun.

  1. Cost- i will say that houston is way cheaper. When i first came to atlanta i was paying almost 70 dollars a night in a drug infested hotel prostitution ring. That same price for a hotel in houston will have you in a very nice area and hotel. If your looking for a house 150-200k houston will have you living in a very lavish house and area not so much for Atlanta your looking at the slums. Dont believe me look it up on zillow.

  2. Transportation- this is the only thing atlanta has on houston and its not even close. The train station/bus system here in atlanta is outstanding. The train and bus line reaches the outskirts comparison to houston which is horrible.

Houston transportation system is very disappointing, if you plan on moving down here without a car make sure you are inside the city limits. Anything outside the city or suburbs there is no bus lines.

Overall- Houston is the 4 biggest city in america. Like they say everything is bigger and better in texas. Houston is 45 minutes from Galveston beach. If not you can drive 4-5 hours away to san padre islands which is one the top destination during spring break. Houston is also 4 hours away from dallas, austin, San Antonio. New Orleans is about 5 hours from houston also. Atlanta to me is more of a career move if you want to be in the entertainment industry this is the right place for you. If not i would suggest Houston to anybody who is on the verge of moving to either one these two cities.
