Astros Dominant Wins #10
This is the last video of a 10-day series, highlighting the most dominant Astros wins in the last five years (2018-2022).
Game 10 – 10/04/22 vs. Phillies – W,10-0
This game doesn’t have the biggest run differential in my sample, but with hindsight, it’s very hard NOT to include it when you are talking about dominance. Our future World Series rivals come to H-town and get shut out. Three home runs off their starter Ranger Suarez, one of those being Tucker’s 30th home run of the season. Suarez is pulled out of the game in the 3rd inning, and then Devo becomes the punching bag. The Astros rack up 17 hits while striking out only 4 times. For comparison, the Phillies struck out 16 times.
JV put the finishing touches on his Cy Young with 5 shutout innings, no hits, and 10 Ks. Hunter Brown got to show off his stuff. Hector Neris kept the hope for a no-hitter alive until the 9th, where Dusty called for mercy and brought in Will Smith. Ironically, after loading the bases with no outs, the Phillies whiff three times in a row to seal the shutout and give the Astros a huge ego boost.
Thank you to all who followed the series or watched a couple of videos. You can take a look at my excel table here for info on how I did my research. Who knows, I might do something similar for the Killer Bs era.
