Arthur Lee Burton executed August 2024 for the murder of Nancy Adleman along a jogging trail in July 1997.
27 years ago in July 29, 1997 Arthur was riding his bike on a jogging trail and spotted Nancy Buquoi Adleman jogging down the Bayou. He pulled her into the bushes to rape her. Arthur severely beat Nancy to knock her out and stop screaming then strangled her with her own shoelace. Her body was found half clothed. After screaming for help she asked him why he was doing this and he did not have too. She asked if he knew God before dying and said she forgives him according to records. The court however did not forgive him. Arthur argued that he could not control himself and used intellectual disability as a last effort to not be executed. Arthur's lawyers argued "hostility" toward their client from Texas Court of Criminal Appeals on the appeal's denial. He was 54 years old at the time of his execution, 28 years old at the time of the crime. He was the third person to be executed this year in Texas and 11th in the country. Three more executions are scheduled in Texas this year in 2024. Texas has executed 588 people since 1982. https://www.usatoday.com/story/news/nation/2024/08/07/arthur-lee-burton-executed/74708176007/
