Areas outside of the city centre to stay in for one night that have a few restaurants or spots walkable to get a meal?

Hey all,

We’re visiting Houston for one nights only and looking for any tips on areas/hotels to stay at with reasonable parking rates?

As we’re only staying for a night (headed on the I-10 down to San Antonio and Big Bend) we thought it best to avoid the city (and some of the high parking fees/room rates)

I’ve struggled to find places that are good value for money or 2/3 stars in Montrose and Uptown (Galleria) – are there any other areas you would recommend?

Energy Corridor looks reasonable but wondering if it has any good places to eat or similar? Really just looking to grab a bite to eat somewhere, go for a walk and then hit the hay.

Any recommendations would be greatly appreciated!!
