Are there any yimby/urbanism groups in Houston?

I feel like Houston, despite all its problems, has the potential to be a great city. Good job growth. Large and growing population. Several universities in the area (Rice, UH, and TSU).

I think Houston would realize its potential as a great city if it implemented the following changes:

  • Add dedicated bike paths and protected bike lanes.
  • Widen sidewalks and make crosswalks safer.
  • Commuter rail network for commuters from surrounding suburbs (Katy, Sugarland, Cypress, Woodlands, etc.).
  • Expand on its Metro bus system.
  • Expand on its Metro rail system.
  • Stop highway expansions, like they one they are pushing through on i-45.

Are there local yimby groups I can donate to and volunteer for? Or does anyone have experience getting involved with city council meetings and can offer advice on how to get started?
