Are shipping container shelters a thing around here?

Disclaimer: I’m located about 50 miles southeast of Houston. So I just bought 10 acres that had a small 30 year old mobile home on it. It’s actually in pretty nice condition for how old it is but I know it probably wouldn’t survive past a category 3. The plan is to build a real house on the land but it’s going to take a minute to save enough money to start that. It’s just me so I’m not in a rush.

When looking into storm shelters I see some people in tornado prone areas bury shipping containers in the ground. Is this something done around here for hurricanes? Is there some company around here that will do that? I’m open to any other shelter ideas. I do not live in a flood prone area so that wouldn’t be a problem.
