Are all the FIFA Volunteer Tryouts as disorganized/disappointing?

tl;dr: The volunteer tryouts were a letdown. I truly hope Houston can be better organized for the actual events.

Maybe this is just a vent, but I found my experience at Houston's WC Volunteer Tryouts very ironic.

During the application process, the information conveys the message of a high energy team forming lasting positive interactions, aimed at helping players/support staff/fans navigate our city effectively.

But several times during the brief time of our tryout window, I was struck by how different this was from my (first) personal experience with the organization. Some examples:

1) The website directions were fairly ambiguous and led me upstairs to a locked door with no clear indication of whether this was the volunteer line or not. There was no staff member around to ask, no one stirring about behind the glass, and the two waypoints downstairs lacked detail and pointed in opposing directions.

2) The door stayed locked until a minute or two before our scheduled time. There was no chance to interact with many other people besides those immediately ahead or behind us in line.

3) The "Frontline volunteers" who were our guides were very young, seemed scared to interact much with us, and disappeared asap after telling us to go to each new station.

4) The teqball tables both had extremely flat soccer balls which made them unplayable! No one had a pump. How can a FIFA event not have an inflated soccer ball?! Not that it mattered much because we probably got a total of 8-10 minutes before being pushed into the next area.

5) The interview consisted of a younger teenager basically asking a couple follow-up questions from my application and clicking my answers into a web form. It wasn't conversational, she was clearly just reading a script, clicking an answer, scrolling a little and reading the next, repeat. I guess the point is just to see if we show up, because the "interview" could have just been sent to me via email to fill out.

6) The selfie props were set up haphazardly. The ones after the interview station were the most annoying: two selfie kiosks were there, but neither was pointed at a backdrop (which were mere feet to the left or right), and neither had photo paper or a way to email/text you the photo!
