Appraisal for antique hand-carved furniture?

Hello! My mom is giving me a beautiful hand carved wooden desk from Spain. It’s probably about 150 years old and it’s just stunning, with intricate patterns and lion heads on the legs. Where could I take this to get an honest appraisal? It belonged to my great uncle who was the U.S. ambassador for Spain long ago. Never done anything like this and I don’t n know Jack s**t about antiques and furniture. I’ve always wanted to have it but if it’s worth a bunch, I could really use some cash! It’s tough out there!
