Apartment recommendations

Hello! I’m moving to Houston in a few months and I’ll be working in the medical center. Having never been to Texas, and being an African American, are their apartments you’d recommend as well as ones to avoid? I recently was considering, Charleston at Fannin Station, is that complex/area good?
