Apartment Issue

My apartment agreed to pay my electric bill after maintenance went in to install a Nest thermostat while I was gone visiting family for 2 weeks and they left all the lights and A/C on. I have the confirmation that they would pay, along with the employee telling me to email the bill to them recorded.

I deliberately turned everything off, including the A/C before I left. Now they are refusing to pay. Their reasoning is that the refrigerator caused the electricity use and they would not pay that or the fees associated with the bill.

The electricity use is because all the lights were turned on and the A/C was left turned down to 69 degrees when it was 100+ degrees every day in Houston.

I left for Oklahoma on 8/27. Maintenance came in on 8/29. I returned 9/11. All of this is evidenced in my Ring Doorbell camera and airline tickets. They agreed to pay on 9/13 which I have a voice recording of and an email summarizing our meeting and the bill attached. I’ve recorded every interaction about this matter.

Also I left in June to visit family and turned everything off and was gone about a month. The bill then was less than $20.

My experience with this apartment has not been good. The apartment lied about having Nest thermostats in all the units when I toured in February the units prior to moving in. I asked specifically about that. I also have this on video. It took them until Aug to install the Nest thermostat. They also blamed me for a roach infestation when I moved in, stating that the roaches came because Ieft the apartment vacant for 2 weeks and moved in during March. I have a witness for this. Security did not answer or come when I called frantically when 2 men tried to break into my apartment for 45 minutes on 4/5. The police came 55 minutes later. I have a witness for this as well. They also would not let me get a Ring doorbell, which I ignored and got anyway for my safety, which was good because the same 2 men returned to my apartment twice and tried to gain access a week later, which I have on video, once while I was asleep and the second while I was awake and threatened to called the police on them through the speaker.
