Apartment Complexes Offering Units on Airbnb

Hi all,

Recently found out my apartment complex inside the loop is offering apartments for short term rental on Airbnb. Unfortunately one of the rentals is immediately across the hall to my apartment. I found the listing on Airbnb.

I’ve lived at this apartment for over 3 years now, this rental is a recent development. Definitely was not aware of this going on and recently renewed my lease.

There have been issues with garbage being left in the hallway.

I’m also not thrilled with security aspects associated with Airbnb renters (no idea who is coming and going, apartment has secure, controlled access, anyone can rent on Airbnb etc).

In my lease it says no rentals without management approval. I went to speak to the leasing office and they said that “management approved it.” Not sure if this means just local leasing office staff or corporate. I have lodged a few complaints with corporate (no response yet).

Anyone have any experience with this situation at their apartment complex? Any advice/thoughts would be appreciated.
