Apartment AC help

My apartment has been getting up into the low 80s all week. Right now at 1am its still 80 degrees. When the maintenance guys came out all they did was point a temp gun at the main AC vent in the living room and said well it’s working and just left. Is this something I should talk to a lawyer about? I’m not able to sleep without ice packs on and even then they only work for so long
