Anywhere I could go spend time with some dogs if I don’t have one?

This may sound weird but I need some cheering up since I've been feeling really down lately. I'm 4ish hours away from my childhood dog who is back home with family. I miss him a lot. My bf and I have a cat, but she hates being held. Any time her and I spend in close proximity is always on her terms, which I am okay with.

Are there any events or anywhere I could volunteer and spend some time with some animals? Doesn't even have to be dogs! I love cats and other animals too! Maybe a cat cafe? Anything. Thanks!
