Anyone remember a 90s coffee house in north Spring where teens hung out? (Possibly called Arabica’s or something similar?)
Hey r/houston, I'm digging through old memories from when I was a kid in the 90s living in Spring, TX, and I can't for the life of me remember the name of this coffee house all us teenagers used to hang out at. It was definitely in the north Spring area—maybe on FM 1960 or close by, like near Champions or Kuykendahl, but I'm fuzzy on the exact spot now.
What I do remember super clearly: It was this super hip, all-ages spot (no booze, just coffee and vibes) that felt like the coolest place back then, from the late 90s into the early 2000s. They had these awesome Italian sodas that everyone got, and their high-caffeine coffee special called "The Freak" that would keep you wired for hours—total teen energy drink before energy drinks were everywhere. Oh, and they sold commissioned art right off the walls! Like, local artists' stuff hanging up, and you could buy it on the spot. It wasn't some chain like PJ's or anything formal; more of an indie, creative hangout where you'd chill, maybe listen to music or just people-watch.
I've tried searching online and even thought it might be Java Jazz, but nope, that doesn't match. Anyone else from that era in Spring remember this place? What was it called? Exact address or any old photos/menus? Would love to jog my memory or find out if it's still around somehow. Thanks!
