Anyone have experience using spothero for monthly parking downtown?

Hello fellow Houstonians. I recently lost the place where I used to park downtown and I'm looking for alternatives. I need to park there every week day for 8+ hours.

A friend recommended SpotHero. I've tested out the app and used it a few times to pay for and reserve parking for the day and it worked well. But I'm looking for a more long term solution, as paying daily rates is obviously not viable long term. I've found extremely reasonable garages on SpotHero that apparently you can reserve for a month through their app, without signing a contract. The app claims you can cancel payment at any time, so you're not locked in for a set period.

When I've reserved daily spots I received the ticket to scan and enter/exit the garage immediately after paying. For the monthly garage I'm looking at, apparently the company owning the garage will contact me after I've paid through spothero to set up a time to pick up an access card. That makes me wary. I'm curious if anyone else has used them to park downtown. I'd love to hear some experiences, especially if you've done month-long reservations like the one I'm looking at.
