Anyone have details on Avan Property Management?
Currently living in an apartment complex managed by Avan Property management, which formerly was under Millcreek. To keep things short and sweet, another occupant at the same complex I live at followed me out the parking garage and shot at me after I honked at them for almost hitting me in the tiny garage. It’s so tiny someone had hit me in December of last year already, but my car is a coke can and it was their fault (not paying attention on phone & very tight turns) so she just sustained the damages to her front bumper. Anyway, Avan property management is incompetent in all aspects of this shooting as they are the main reason the 5 HPD officers did not arrest the shooter the initial night (hiding in unit), and have strung us along as victims/tenants that actions would be taken to ban/tow the shooter/vehicle which they never did (this incident took place at the very beginning of this year and barely let us know yesterday they would be “stepping back” from the situation). Please acknowledge the shooter is not even on the lease for the unit she stays in, but I am and have lived here for over 3 years. I hide my car in the basement now as I live on the very top floor, which is where the shooter gets to park and lives as well. I also coincidentally get to witness the shooter hopping in and out of cars for a few minutes then heading back inside while I just happen to be out walking my dog, or pulling into the complex (has the audacity to do drop offs right in front of the leasing office, doesn’t even attempt to hide the fact). How is this not willful ignorance/negligence on the complex’s part? I get it Avan is a shitty management company but isn’t this too far? They never even sent out a notice to other residents in the complex about the incident to maybe warn others to be cautious in the garage. They act like it’s no big deal now, but if that were the case why didn’t they inform residents initially? They say they cannot guarantee anyone’s safety (which is fair, no one can) but let violent individuals stay on the property, after they initially told us they took banning violent criminals very seriously.
Does anyone else have any similar experiences with this management company? I am trying to be fair and not post the complex’s name in fear of retaliation, but as far as I’m aware they do own multiple properties in Houston.
