Anyone file a claim with CenterPoint after they cracked/damaged sewer pipe fixing a gas leak?
| |
I smelled gas in the backyard and called CenterPoint to come out to investigate. They found a leak, and called out the crew with the backhoe. According to my plumber, they replaced the pipe incorrectly. The yellow pipe is the pipe that they replaced; however, they cracked the pipe next to it, which caused sewage to back up in my home. Note: CenterPoint was here on Tuesday, working overnight until Weds am, and we noticed the problem with the sewage Sunday morning. Not sure why it took so long for the problem to manifest, except that we were running the washer and dishwasher at the same time, along with the toilet flush, and it started gurgling in the tubs and leaking from the bottom of the toilets. I have these pics, and the plumber says he will also give me a video of his scope from yesterday showing the cracked pipe. However, I have no paperwork AT ALL from CenterPoint. I just have some generic auto emails saying they turned off my gas and to call them back for a reconnection appointment. Has anyone successfully filed a similar claim and been reimbursed? If so, you have any advice for how to go about this? Mostly, I’m looking for dos and don’ts when I fill out the claim. I don’t have a lot of money – this is going on a credit card until I can figure out how to pay it off – so I don’t have money to retain a lawyer either. Note 2: I’m not good at this kind of thing. Divorced mom doing this thing alone, no support. Any help would be much appreciated! submitted by /u/mutedgiggles |
