Any PAs here in Houston?

First of all, I hope you weren’t affected too much by the recent tornado that just went through; I hope all is well there.

I am currently a PA-S and will be graduating here in the next 6 months. I am currently considering moving to Houston, TX when I graduate. I don’t have a specific specialty in mind or a specific area that I would like to work. I’ve liked almost all aspects of PA school and my rotations thus far and would be motivated to do well in whatever field I end up in.

If you are/were a PA in Houston, I just have a few questions that I would like to ask you:

1. Do/did you enjoy living and working in Houston? (why/why not? Are you a Houston native?)

2. If you have kids, has Houston been a good place to raise a family?

3. Generally, how is the job market in the area?

4. How is the pay? How is it in comparison to the COL?

5. Do you know of any specific hospitals/clinics/groups that are willing to take on new grads?

6. If you’re comfortable answering, what specialty do you work in? Schedule? Pay?

7. What are your hobbies and what do you do on your time off?
