Any nice safe quiet areas to buy property ⁉️

I’m a young veteran looking to move to Houston wanting to buy some kind of property. Wanting to buy a house or condo at a reasonable price monthly about at most 1500-1600. Maybe a little more but no more then 2000 monthly but I want a duplex or some kind of investment that I could potentially rent out. I’ll be using a Va home loan as well so no down payment or property tax for me. Any long term houston residence or people living in Houston there whole life know any hidden on the low affordable spots lol? Lastly, pet friendly as well if possible…
