Any lakes within 2 hours drive for swimming?

As the title states, I’m looking for some lakes around here that I can swim in without worrying about gators. From what I’ve heard, Lake Conroe is definitely out of the question and Lake Livingston supposedly has them but also only a very small swimming area.

Am I wrong in my assessment of these two? Either way, I’d kinda like to get outside of the city a ways. I wouldn’t mind a 2 hour drive. It’s summer, I’m cooped up in my apartment and this would be a great distraction from both school and work.

Edit: Why is this getting down voted? Seriously, someone asks for some good places to go swimming and people want to hate on the post. SMH…

Edit 2: Thank you for some good recommendations. I’ll take a look at these. There’s still plenty of summer, grilling and beer left. Some of these places will make for great distractions from the heat and other things that will remain unmentioned because we are all tired of hearing about them.
