Any dog owners with a crate I can borrow?

There's a bulldog in my neighborhood that's been staying around my house for like a month, he's really well trained and we've put up missing ads but no one has claimed him and the fact he's unwilling to leave this area is so well trained and has no collar makes me think he didn't go missing but was likely abandoned here. No one in the neighborhood is looking to adopt a dog right now so I was thinking I'd take him to a shelter especially with it getting colder soon and he's just outside all the time, but I didn't realize how expensive carriers were until now so I'd rather borrow one than pay for a new one since I'm only gonna ever need one this one time.
