Amazon opens new sort center in Houston area, adding 3,000 jobs ahead of Prime Day

Seattle-based retail giant Amazon.com Inc. (Nasdaq: AMZN) has opened another Houston-area facility just in time for its annual Prime Day shopping event.

The new 805,601-square-foot sort center opened this month at 22525 Clay Road near the Grand Parkway in Katy. The facility will create more than 3,000 full- and part-time jobs, all paying at least $15 per hour, a spokesperson said.
