Altuve had the highest AWAY batting average, OBP, and OPS and the third highest AWAY slugging in 2017

I don't understand how anyone could say he "stole the MVP from judge". Cheating or not, he was the best hitter in baseball, any way you look at it. It breaks my heart to see all the hate he gets. He has overcome so many odds:

  1. He is a being a professional athlete that hits for power at only 5'4''
  2. The Astros cut him from training camp, yet he wouldn't take no for an answer and showed up the next day. Obviously, it ended up working out for both parties
  3. He was able to escape Venezuela, a country that is currently in the worst observed case of hyperinflation in history that has been described as being in a state worse than the US during the great depression

Yet he gets booed when he comes to the plate, and people cheer when he fails. Today, I saw a video on YouTube titled "Jose Altuve Failing at Baseball". It just rubs me the wrong way that players like Cody Bellinger who were afforded the luxury of growing up in the United States and playing baseball in the little league world series with their dad as the coach talk down on him in this way.

I in no way condone what went on in 2017, however, the hate that Altuve has received is unfounded, and I genuinely feel terrible for the guy considering the respect that should be had for him
