All y’all under HOA’s I have a few questions
I inherited my dads townhome and it’s under an hoa.
They have hired a property management company that, I feel, is crap.
We pay monthly hoa dues (water is paid by the hoa as is common yard maintenance and several other things)
The hoa sends a coupon book at the beginning of the year that you can use to pay your hoa dues or you can go online and pay them.
You don’t get a monthly bill to remind you to pay it (is that normal?)
You don’t get a receipt of any kind that shows you paid it (is that normal?)
You don’t get anything at the end of the year that shows what you paid (again is this normal?)
If you pay online the only way you know it went through is when it comes out of the bank account or if you login to the online account it says “processed”
Am I wrong to think there should be more communication with the company when it comes to paying my dues? I mean even the mortgage company sends me an online statement showing me what I’ve paid and so forth.
The website for the company isn’t user friendly at all, they aren’t updating the site to show the monthly minutes either. It took me bitching when they copped an attitude with me to get them to start putting up the monthly minutes.
I called to get the bylaws and such (because the house needs renovations and I needed to know what I could do on my own and what I needs to ask permission for) and they told me they wouldn’t give it to me until the house was in my name. I offered to send them the will that the court accepted that showed the house was left to me and explained that probate cases take a while and the deed couldn’t be transferred into my name yet. They were incredibly unprofessional and said “yeah we don’t do that” and then hung up on me.
Am I wrong to think in this day and age there should be a way for them to, at least electronically, let me know that the payment went through? And a monthly reminder? Or is this all normal for hoa’s? I’ve never been under an hoa before so I’m trying to learn what’s normal and what’s not
