Airbnb Disaster
Hi all- need some help. I’m relatively new to Houston, and I understand theres basically little to no zoning regulations inside the loop. Here my dilemma: I signed a 12 month townhome lease, that I am 6 months into. I had lovely renting elderly next door neighbors until about two months ago. Then I started seeing strange behavior from that same house. Never the same person twice, different cars all the time, etc.
Yes- you already guessed it. The owner converted it into an Airbnb. It has been awful. We have had people attempt to get into our house thinking it’s their rental in the middle of the night, blocking our driveway, partying at all hours, trashing our driveway, coming and going all night long for 2 months.
I found the listing online and politely reached out to ask the host to remind their guests at the very LEAST, please do not block our driveway and to please be respectful. The host didn’t care at all.
I reached out to my landlord to ask if he knew the other owner to which he did not and said there was nothing he could do and he was sorry.
I asked a cop what, if anything could be done and he said they are not technically breaking any laws other than potentially noise violation but thats reaching.
Does anyone have any ideas on what I can do here? I’m feel unsafe at times, I’m annoyed and quite honestly I pay too much in rent to deal with this kind of thing. Am I SOL for the next 6 months? TIA.
