After hearing McClain’s take on Deshaun
Saw McClain on a show saying he thinks Deshaun will be traded still possibly on draft night even with the allegations against him. My thought would be why would we trade him then? Innocent until proven guilty, of course, and I can agree it doesn’t look good, but still have to wait till court. With that said McClain said we would trade at this point for a 1st 3rd and possibly some conditional picks, which yes I get if he’s guilty why wouldn’t we take that now, but that’s far from what his value would be if innocent. My thought process is we pay him 10 million this year if/ when he is put on the exempt list, if we trade him it’s a 20 million cap hit, if we let this play out in court and he is found innocent then we can trade him worth the 20 million hit we would take, and if he is found guilty I’m sure we would be able to cut him under the personal conduct policy at no cost and then get that cap for next year which we can use to sign bigger name FA and draft a QB. I just don’t see how trading him at this time would actually help the rebuild if he is innocent, if he is guilty I want him off the team. Why would the Texans not wait?
