Affordable, temporary housing in Houston

Hey, all.

I'm an anthropology student from Norway, and I'm considering conducting my fieldwork in Texas next semester (January-May). At the moment, I'm looking at Houston. Before I plan anything concrete, I just want to get an overview of my housing options before fully committing. I know there is Airbnb, but I'm wondering if I have other options? Just looking for something decent and affordable where I can stay for around 5 months.
