Advice Needed: Job Opportunities in Houston for a Bolivian Lawyer New to the US

Hello Houston Community!

I've recently moved to the greater Houston area and am seeking guidance on the types of jobs I can pursue here. Although I am a licensed lawyer in Bolivia, I understand that the legal system and professional practices in the U.S. are quite different, legal procedures and systems in the U.S. differ significantly from those I am accustomed to.

I hold a Bachelor of Laws (LL.B.) with a concentration in International Relations (Summa cum laude) and am bilingual in Spanish and English. While I am legally authorized to work in the US and have reliable transportation, my limited experience and the need for training in the US legal system pose challenges. I've noticed that law firms often look unfavorably upon candidates requiring significant training.

Given these factors, should I continue to pursue opportunities in law firms, or would it be advisable to explore alternative career paths? I am open to various fields and eager to learn and adapt to new professional environments.

Any suggestions, advice, or information about job opportunities that align with my experience would be immensely appreciated.

Thank you for your guidance and support!

Best regards.
