Acclaimed Japanese-inspired Restaurant Rolls Out New Happy Hour Menu
Uchi Houston’s popular Sake Social Menu is getting a new look for the new year. Savvy diners line up at 904 Westheimer well before 5 p.m. for this daily “happy hour” menu that runs from 5:00 to 6:30 p.m. Those lucky enough to make it through the door will get a chance to indulge in Uchi’s innovative cuisine at a fraction of the cost.
The new menu developed by Chef de Cuisine Chris Davies features unique bites and oyster specials alongside favorites like the Spicy Crunchy Tuna Roll ($6) and Yokai Berry ($6), which features a delicate balance of salmon, crispy kale and Asian pear.

Oysters are $2 each or for a special treat guests can opt for a pairing of half dozen oysters and a half a bottle of Krug Grande Cuvee Champagne. Oyster offerings will vary depending on availability, but diners should expect such delicacies as New Brunswick Beausoleil Oysters topped with aguachile and fresh dill.
In addition to maki, handrolls and nigiri, Uchi’s Sake Social menu also offers dishes for meat lovers such as short ribs with eggplant sambal ($9) and Kushiyaki ($10), a unique twist on lettuce wraps featuring oak-grilled skewers over butter lettuce and topped with kimchi.

Four different sake options, including a sake cocktail with Thai chili and cucumber, are offered during the social hour. There are also beer and wine specials. Decadent desserts round out the menu, including the Uchi classic peanut butter semifreddo ($7). The award-winning Foie Gras Candy Bar ($7) by Houston Rising Star Chef Meredith Larke seamlessly blends foie gras into a semifreddo that is layered with sesame-hazelnut dacquoise and truffle caramel.
