AC Went Out Again

TL;DR please recommend a decent company to replace a 9 years old 3 ton single unit with 1 controller and advise me on what to ask or check as this is my first time going through it. Also a rough range of how much to expect to pay would be very useful.

The AC stopped cooling on Saturday. The tech came by and had to refill the refrigerant. Charged $100 per lb. Ended up paying $400.

This morning he let me know that the replacement coil ($3000) is not available in the market and we have to wait till the vendor gets a new shipment (due to the whole new refrigerant thing). The AC stopped cooling like an hour ago and now I'm gonna have to pay another $400 to get cool air again for a couple of days because I have a toddler and a new born.

I was hoping there recharge will last all summer long but oh well. I think I'm gonna have to replace it to stop the bleeding
