AC price check – 15 SEER 4 ton American Standard, $14k

System is 18 years old, barely hanging on but hasn’t completely crashed. Energy bills were outrageous over the summer (even considering the grid issues). We could wait, but my concern is the cost continuing to go up (realize there’s a sales tactic aspect to this but with how prices have increased and DOE regs have changed, seems to be some truth to it) Have had 2 different companies out – the lowest was quoted just under $14k for the work summarized below. Is this reasonable?

“Quote to install new American Standard 4 ton 15.2 seer gas complete. Includes new condensing unit with matching box evaporator coil and new gas furnace. New sheet metal plenum and return can. New emergency drain pan with 2 new safety float switches. Modify drain lines and copper line set. Replace piping insulation indoor and outdoor. New pad, whip and disconnect for outdoor unit. New WiFi color thermostat. 10 year warranty on parts 2 year labor warranty.”
