Abusive Law Firm?

I have a friend who is dealing with what sounds like predatory behaviour from the Houston law firm she hired to help her with custody and child support mediation. She is a new mom already dealing with a horrendous situation with her (now ex) partner, and I'm appalled at the behaviour of her lawyers, the gaslighting and bulldozing, on top of charging for 5+ lawyers every time she emails (they ask her to CC 5 of them each time). She does not have family here or financial support, meanwhile her ex has both and taunts her about his ability to win full custody of their child. It feels like this law firm has taken financial advantage of a vulnerable person, meanwhile her insanely high bills have only resulted in her ex being completely favoured in the agreement that is being drafted. Does anyone have any resources that could help her find a new lawyer or get some sort of counselling on how to navigate this situation? I'm doing my best from afar (Canada), but I'm not familiar with the services and options in Houston.
