About to move, need advice

I believe I’m about to move to Houston for a job at the space center. I have no idea where to look for an apartment as I’ve never been to the city, and was hoping I might be able to get a bit of direction here.

I was thinking maybe Clear Lake or Nassau Bay, but it seems impossible to get accurate photos and honest reviews of places. I obviously am concerned about the safety of the area, as well as the apartment itself.

Are there better areas? It would be just myself and my boyfriend moving together, along with our cat. Ideally a one to two bedroom condo or apartment would be great.
