A weekend in Houston

Hi all, I will be visiting Houston next week due to work, but I will have the weekend off and would like to visit some nice places. I have a car and will be staying in Montrose area. Any recommondations for cool restaurants and must-visits?

Also, is it safe to travel around Houston alone as a female tourist?
