A Full Rebuild is Stupid
The Texans and its fans are still reeling from a loss to an already undefeated team. All anyone is talking about is time to rebuild, "TRADE EM ALL", Time to get rid of JJ and Watson.
No, just no.
The Texans have some seriously great talent. We've spent years hunting for a QB, with some pretty piss poor trades to get it, it never worked out. I'm talking Fitzpatrick, Osweiler, Savage, and Mallet. I'm talking trading DHop for pennies. I'm talking about getting rid of Clowney.
| Player | Contract in millions of $ | Guaranteed in millions of $ |
|---|---|---|
| Osweiler | 72 | 37 |
| Fitzpatrick | 7.3 | 4 |
| Mallet | 7 | 1.75 |
The amount of money and time we spent, hopping QBs instead of finding a way to secure a first-round pick like Mayfield or Mahomes is what fucked us. BoB burned our cap space on worthless QBs. He burned our picks. I knew 2020 season was gonna be bad when the draft happened. We wasted it on so-so O-linemen and D-linemen. But now we have Deshawn Watson, who is the only starting playing since 2013 to have a win% over .500. We trade Watson, and the next team he goes to gets an SB ring within 2 years.
JJ Watt is a determined player who is one of the hardest-working players. He is the FACE of the Texans. He is the IDENTITY of the Houston and Texans culture. He is the heart of that locker room, the biggest cheerleader. And he doesn't care if they sign him on a big contract, he wants to play for Houston. His time is short as a DE.
Texans RB/WR/TE depth is also on point. It just needs an OC to work it. It needs an experienced OC to train DW into the beast he is. Texans need a better DC with a better defensive line and O-line.
