One of the biggest rip-offs I’ve ever experienced — do NOT waste your money at POST Houston’s 4th of July “celebration.” Or anything else for that matter.
My family and I spent $160 on TICKETS ALONE (yes, $40 EACH) to attend their highly marketed 4th of July event. We expected at least a decent experience for that price, but what we got was a total joke.
First off — the food and drink prices were absolutely insane. You can’t get a single drink for under $5, and most of the food was wildly overpriced, with long lines and nothing special. Fine, it’s the 4th of July, we were ready to splurge and have a good time.
BUT HERE’S THE REAL KICKER: These geniuses hosted an event ON THE FOURTH OF JULY and completely failed to plan for the city’s fireworks show. Let me be crystal clear: NO ONE COULD SEE THE FIREWORKS. The entire display — the main reason people come downtown on July 4th — was blocked by the building IN FRONT OF US!. Hundreds (probably thousands) of us crowded onto the roof just to realize we’d be watching the glow of fireworks behind a wall of concrete. You literally had a better view from your car in traffic.
There was no warning, no signage, no announcement — just disappointed, angry families who threw away $300+ between tickets, food, drinks, and rides — and left with nothing but regret.
The live band was the ONLY decent part of the night, and even they had to perform to a crowd of people slowly realizing they’d been completely scammed.
POST Houston: If you’re going to host a “celebration,” maybe try planning around the literal centerpiece of the holiday next time. Or just don’t sell overpriced tickets to an event that fails to deliver the one thing everyone came to see.
0/10. Never again. Ps. All the kids were crying btw.
