What is the consensus on retiring Verlander’s #35?
Verlander is injured. Again. When all is said and done, Verlander spent almost as many years as Nolan Ryan did with the Houston Astros and earned many more accolades in less time while in uniform. We talk a lot about how Altuve's #27 is a lock to be the soonest to retired, but what if #35 was to be considered before then? Is that as likely? Curious to see what the general opinion is.
I am in the camp that they should retire his number at the end of it all. He headlined the start of an incredible 7 year postseason run (in his tenure) and was a direct influence toward not one but TWO rings in his time wearing the H. Can you picture #35 in the rafters? I know at the very least he'll definitely earn a spot in the Astros HOF but I just don't think anyone else could wear #35 and do it justice in our lifetime.
