Fort Bend ISD administrators propose 1-time property tax rate increase to cull $34.6M shortfall

A one-year temporary property tax increase could generate up to $35.1 million for FY 2025–26 to support staff retention bonuses and a 90-day reserve, while most FBISD taxpayers would still see a net tax bill decrease if two bills pass in the 89th Texas Legislature, according to CFO Bryan Guinn at the May 5 agenda review meeting.
