5) Here’s What’s New and Where to Eat at Daikin Park, Home of the Astros
Stadiums around the country celebrated the start of a new baseball season by introducing a variety of new dishes and drinks. As we do every year, Eater updated its food guide to the local stadium. The newly named Daikin Park (still Minute Maid Park in our hearts) offered a new lineup of dishes, including a chicken and waffle sandwich; a Daddy Mac hot dog topped with chopped brisket, macaroni and cheese, and crispy dill pickle; and loaded fries topped with a heap of fried chicken bites and ranch.

Houston diners loved digging into this list of new restaurant openings, which include an Asian American diner in the Heights; at least four new coffee shops, including one helmed by not one, but two Top Chef alums; and a vibe-dining restaurant in Upper Kirby that has a lobby where diners can confess their sins.
3) After 12 Years in Business and the Loss of Its Kosher Certification, This Houston Steakhouse Is Closing
Genesis Steakhouse & Wine Bar, the Meyerland restaurant renowned for its diverse kosher menu and Jewish holiday-friendly spreads, is closing its doors on Wednesday, April 30, following the loss of its kosher certification earlier this year. Owner Jason Goldstein said the revocation followed a visit from the Houston Kashruth Association, which requested the receipt for a package of fish. Read more to find out what happened next.
2) Houston’s Gourmet Hot Dog Shop Is Closing For Good, Plus Other Restaurant Closings to Know
April delivered some sad Houston restaurant closings, including Good Dog Houston, which offered some of the most solid gourmet hot dogs in the city for around 15 years. Other closings included Avenida Brazil steakhouse in The Woodlands and Le Madeline in River Oaks, which will be replaced by the Austin restaurant Honest Mary’s.
1) Trill Burgers Finally Opens Its Second Restaurant in This Houston Suburb
Bun B’s famed smash burger joint, Trill Burgers, has been teasing a new restaurant in the suburbs for months. Now, it’s finally opened. The pop-up-turned-restaurant debuted an outpost in Spring, Texas, at the end of April, which features the restaurant’s signature black and yellow palette, the “Keep It Trill” signage, and a drive-thru. And just like the Montrose opening in 2022, lines are wrapped around the block. Another location is slated to open in Houston proper, on Westheimer Road, soon.

3) The Best New Brunch Restaurants in Houston, April 2025
No surprise here, but Houstonians love to brunch. This list includes some of the newest brunches that have emerged in the city. Noteworthy additions include Leeland House, Melrose, MF Lobster and Seafood, Okto, and the newly rebranded Downtown food hall, Finn Hall.
