Where should I take my mom for a birthday dinner?

I’m in Houston for 6 weeks for medical care. My mom came to town to help me while I’m here getting treatment.

It’s her birthday. We’re staying in the medical center. We don’t have a car, so looking at Uber-distance places.

She’s in her late 70s and not very food-adventurous, unfortunately. I took her to the bistro at the Menil gallery when she first got here and she liked that, so that’s her kind of vibe. I took her to Pit Room, which she thought was OK but she felt the wait was too long and a bird flew at her and scared her. I tried to take her to Riel, since she was raised in Manitoba and I thought she’d get a kick out of it, but she said the menu looked too “weird.”

So that’s where we’re at. Any good suggestions within a reasonable Ubering distance?
