Certified Solutions- legit?

I just had a guy come to my door with a brochure claiming to work for certified solutions, which he said hires people with criminal records to solicit donations to buy books for disadvantaged children. It’s like $150 to donate 12 books and the “salesman” gets a commission.

Anyone know if this is legit or a scam? I did a quick google search and got some hits indicating it was legit so I made a donation, but I’m still somewhat suspicious…
