In town on business for a week and requesting help finding an area to stay!

Sorry for a question that is probably asked a lot but I have never been to Houston before so finding an area has been somewhat daunting. I am in town for a client who lives in the Willowbrook area west of the George Bush Intercontinental Airport. I am looking for an area max of 35 minute drive away and a place that has some good restaurants and bars (I typically prefer less sports bar and more cocktail bar but either will work haha). From looking around it looks like the woodlands may be a decent area to choose but its a little bit on the further end distance wise. Does anyone have any alternative suggestions?
