CenterPoint no longer running second gas meters??

Been in the works to get a new generator. The company we hired kept telling us they were waiting on Sugar Land to approve permits. This process took literally more than 3 months which apparently is way longer than it should have. With permits at the ready I called centerpoint to come run a second gas line w a new meter so it’s on the same side as the generator. I really wanted to avoid digging and running a gas line from one end of the house to the other since it’s a decently sized length to run….

CenterPoint told me as of just a couple weeks ago they stopped doing this and running a line is my only option now! I probably would have reconsidered getting a generator at all if this was the only option I had. Anyone else having issues with this?
