Places to live Near or in between SE Houston.

Fairly new to Houston area, I have a job offer in South East area 77089 my family and I currently live on West side area, Energy Corridor 77084, the commute would be about 50-1hr i acknowledge this is probably normal amount of driving for Texas. My husband thinks we should find something closer or maybe in between. What area Zipcodes, neighborhoods would you recommend? We have two young children looking for family friendly places.
