This is Frustrating.
Watching today’s slate of games has been unexpectedly frustrating. The Broncos are executing creative plays like the Philly Special with Bo Nix, the Giants are finding ways to stay competitive with limited offensive weapons, and the Commanders are making Noah Brown look like a WR1.
Yet, our offense continues to struggle to put together even competent drives. It’s difficult to believe that all these teams possess elite offensive lines, so there must be ways to work around our current challenges.
We need some creativity pumped into the offensive scheme.
Edit: My mistake, everyone. Turns out, Slowik is actually a fantastic play-caller, and all our problems trace back to the O-line. The classic “run, run, pass on third down” routine? Totally the O-line’s fault. Dialing up long-developing plays without adjusting for pressure? Yup, that’s on the O-line too. No screens, no RPOs, no creativity to help out a struggling line? Obviously, that’s still on the O-line. Playing ultra-conservative and managing to score maybe two touchdowns in the third quarter all season? Definitely the O-line’s doing. And every single week, falling apart right after halftime? You guessed it—O-line fault.
Meanwhile, teams like the Jets, with their famously “elite” O-line, manage to pull it together after halftime. Must be the players miraculously figuring it out in those precious 15 minutes. And running down the clock just to throw on 3rd down at the end of the Green Bay game? Clearly, it’s all on the O-line. Man, if only I’d realized this earlier.
